Carina has a MSc in Neuroscience from University of Bucharest, a MFA in Film from Columbia University and a Master in Dispute Resolution (2019) from Pepperdine Law. She taught filmmaking at Columbia University, Western CT State University and she was a Guest Filmmaker at Trinity College in Hartford. She also served as Program Director for Youth Rights Media in New Haven and was the Artistic Director of The Connecticut Film Festival (2009). 

She is a former national champion and Romanian figure skating national team member, as well as a former Columbia University synchronized skating team member. She earned a brown belt in Ju-Jitsu while studying in Paris. Her new passion is Argentine Tango and she trains to compete for the Southern California Tango Championships (2020). ​

Carina is the host/producer for a new podcast in collaboration with Beverly Hills Bar Association “Mediators Talk” - a show promoting the dispute resolution field and peacemaking.

  •  Yololti (Heart) is one of the three finalist screenplays at New Renaissance Film Festival (Amsterdam, NL) 2020; 
  • shot by herself in the jungle of Peru, La Jaula Del Gallo/The Rooster's Cage (HD 7min) was nominated for Best Short at LA Greek Film Festival in 2018;
  • Still Center (35mm, 15min) Her Columbia University thesis was acquired and broadcasted nationally by IFC (2008-2014);
  • Thirteen/Wide Angle Series “Time For School” (2003-2014) - field producer;
  • A Brazen Escape, a screenplay praised by Jim Jarmusch, was selected for the Accelerator program at South East European Film Festival in 2016 and was a very close finalist Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab (2016). ​Type your paragraph here.

Carina Rosanna Tautu is an award winning director and screenwriter and conflict consultant living in Los Angeles. She was born behind the Iron curtain in Bucharest, Romania. She produced and directed films in Burkina Faso, Peru, Mexico, Romania, Slovakia and the US.

 For the past 15 years was dedicated to changing the way we represent women on screen, especially Balkan women and she often explores the theme of balance between the masculine and the feminine. 

She was named of of“10 new faces of international cinema” by Berlinale Talents. (2013), part of Berlin Film Festival. Her films were broadcasted nationally by IFC, Thirteen/Wide Angle/PBS, and National Romanian TV among others.
